DP to HDMI Cable, which one.

I have 2 display port capable monitors. (they have HDMI, DP and VGA)
I have 3 computers. (2 desktops and a laptop, laptop only has HDMI out, 2nd computer doesn't have displayport.)
Computer #1 has a displayport out on the video card, but because of some BS even after an RMA it will not detect a 2nd display or boot up properly/reliably WITH THE DISPLAYPORT ONLY. (it was working fine for 5 months, one day after closing a program, it won't work right anymore)
So I have Computer #1 hooked up with an HDMI cable, and a dvi-to-HDMI cable so I have 2 working monitors on it again.

Which means Computer #2 and the Laptop have nowhere to plug in.

I have two open Displayport connections on my monitors, and a couple working DP cables as well.

I need to know what kind of cable/adapter I need to convert an HDMI signal into a DisplayPort signal.

I know the cables exist, but there are also active/passive adapters and I don't really know what I need to do this, so I'm hoping someone with experience with this can tell me what I need to buy.

The monitors also support VGA, so HDMI to VGA is an option as well, but.... *sigh*

(I'm super PO'd about this now because I don't to have to RMA my card again when it works fine-ish otherwise, and pay for the shipping to them again, wait a week and a half for them to potentially send me the same card back saying it's fixed.)

Solution

There are no passive HDMI to DisplayPort adapters, you must use an active one.
