I'm attempting my first build very soon and I'm having trouble deciding on a monitor. Given the selections I've made (any advice or critiques in this area is very welcome as well), I would like to know what would be best for me. Basically, I don't want to end up buying something I can't fully utilize. So any advice would be extremely appreciated. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/PCgPvK

How many inches are you looking for, what kind of games are you going to play and what is your budget?

I got the ASUS VG248QE 24-inch LED-lit Monitor 144Hz refresh rate 1ms pixel response time & 3D capable and it's awesome. I love it! You can really tell the difference between 60Hz and 144Hz. The only problem with this is the washed up color but its easily fixable with an ICC profile.

I don't see any wrong with your build other than the optical drive. Just buy an external one imo since the only time you're going to use it is when installing your OS/drives via CD and/or burning cd oh yeah and its 7 dollars cheaper LOL but hey thats just me :)

I'm looking for something in the 200-300$ range, no smaller than 24 inches, and as far as games, I will be dabbling in a little bit of everything. While the majority may be lower end stuff, I still want the ability to play more demanding games when the mood suits me. The monitor you referred to was actually the one I was considering, but wasn't sure if my rig was suited to fully benefit from it. I'm sort of learning as I go here. But thank you for the response, I'll look further into the ASUS VG248QE

You should be fine. Your rig is better than mine and im maxing fps with most of the demanding games. I got GTX 660 ti SC 3gb with i7 960 3.8GHz OC and 16 gb or RAM 1600MHz. I'm telling you know once you go 144hz you'll never go back lol
