Hi,

I'm setting up a network for my new office.

Here is the schema

Let me explain it

1. The main modem in on the 2nd floor which is connected to linksys wrt160n Wireless Router. All the set up is done via this wireless router. DHCP server is enabled and it works well.
2. The wireless router is connected to a hub, which will be the main hub. This is a standar D'link hub. From this hub, the connections are separated to lower and upper floor. On the same floor, there is 2nd hub, which connected to main hub and used to connect the client PCs (about 10 computers) via LAN Cable.
3. On the first floor, there are 2 PCs connected to main hub via LAN Cable and 1 Belkin wireless router.
4. On 3rd floor, there are 5PCs connected to main hub via LAN cable and 1 D'link wireless router.
5. On 4th floor, there is 3rd hub, connected to main hub and there are about 8 PCs connected to this 3rd hub. There is also a Linksys WRT54G V1 wireless router connected to the 3rd hub.

Everything works well.
All the other router except main router works as AP, I set the IP to be a different one. The main wireless router IP is 192.168.1.1, the others are 192.168.2.1, 192.168.3.1, 192.168.4.1.

All the DHCP Server on non-main router is disabled.

Now the problem occurs everytime I connected the WRT54G wireless router to the cable. Everytime I connected the Wireless router and restart all the modem. Some PCs on 2nd and 4th floor which using LAN Cable will connected to the WRT54G on the 4th floor and can't access the internet at all. These happens on random PCs. Sometimes it works well. On these not working PC, I tried to access the router setting by typing 192.168.1.1 in the browser and it opens the WRT54G router setting page while others PC which works well will open WRT60N (main router) router setting page.

If I disconnect the WRT54G router, all the connection will works well but sometimes PCs using LAN cable will hit RTO randomly.

My questions are :

1. What's wrong with the WRT54G router? The setup is the same with the other routers. I tried using custom firmware like ddwrt and it's still not working well
2. Is it a good way to setup connection like in the schema?

Thanks
Btw, sorry for my confusing English, I'm not a native speaker :D

"On these not working PC, I tried to access the router setting by typing 192.168.1.1 in the browser and it opens the WRT54G router setting page"

The only way those pcs get access to the WRT54G by typing 192.168.1.1 means that your WRT54G is with IP 192.168.1.1, that of course will cause conflict with your main router (WRT60N) that has the same IP.

Change the WRT54G router to another IP to avoid this ip conflict.

Your network overall is ok, if those are really hubs and not switches I'd consider to replace them for switches to avoid collisions in the network that could slow down overall performance.

Yes, I thought the same thing and already make sure that the WRT54G is not the same IP with the main router
It's 192.168.4.1, there is no router with same IP
Still, on the PC which is disconnected to network, the 192.168.1.1 show the WRT54G setting

Try clearing the cache on that pc and try 192.168.1.1 again, if after clearing it's cache gets into WRT54G settings again it means that the router is still with that IP, perhaps you're doing it wrong or there's some problem with that router.

Also try from another pc to enter the WRT54G via 192.168.4.1, lets make sure 100% it has that IP.
