Why is my network adapter (Gigabyte z97x-ud5h motherboard) crashing weekly?

I built a new machine about a month ago, motherboard listed in the header, intel 4790, lots or memory, etc... (I can rattle off more specs if anyone thinks they are relavent.) I transplanted the intell ssd with my installation of windows 7 from my old system (asus board, different hardware, etc...) and have been running that operating system.

Installed the drivers from gigabyte for the new board and everything seems to run fine EXCEPT that about twice a week the network adapter crashes and I can't seem to bring it back up without uninstalling/reinstalling the device drivers and restarting the system.

This is not acceptable performance from such a nice system, but I am at a loss for what might be going wrong. I have tried all of the windows power management options, the motherboard options pertaining to the network adapter, dns settings, basically everything I could think of, but the problem has not gone away.

The only things I know to look for are Malware or other unwanted software, but Avast has not found anything and I'm not sure where else to look. Do I need to reinstall the operating system or is there something else I can do first?

Solution
Yes I'd say a fresh install is in order, the chipset from your previous motherboard must be from the same family of your current one, otherwise you shouldn't even be able to boot your OS, but there must still be some incompatibility issue causing those crashes you're experiencing.
