Hey guys.
I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card (gpu). Im not the best with computers but I'm a quick learner and have built my own pc.
Listed are my current specs:
OS: Windows 7 home premium 64bit
Mother board: Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955
8GB ram
Display: 1920x1080 @60Hz
My current gpu is: Sapphire HD4850 512mb.

Obviously its pretty old so I'm looking to upgrade to the best gpu my current system can handle.
What gpu would be best for my system? It will need to support directX 11. If anyone has a good site to buy them from that would be sweet too.
Cheers.

No real budget, happy to spend up to $200 or so on it. Power supply is shit so probably have to change that too, as said dont know loads about computers.

If your power supply is supporting an HD 4850 and if you don't want to have to buy another get a GTX 750 Ti. If it can run the HD 4850 it can absolutely run a GTX 750 Ti. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

A Phenom II X4 955 can handle a card up to about an R9 270X, but you'd probably need to upgrade the power supply as well. Does your $200 budget include the power supply or just the card?

$200 was just an approximate. Would happily spend more to upgrade the power supply if need be.

I've had an X4 955 BE @ 3.6 Ghz paired with a GTX 670 (now belongs to my nephew). While it held the GPU back a little I still got good gameplay out of it. An R9 270X on a stock 955 should do quite well.

An X4 955 BE can easily OC to 3.6-3.8 Ghz with a good cooler. Between that and a solid midrange card you see a huge difference in gaming.

Ok I've decided to upgrade power supply as well. The R9 270X will not fit in my current pc due to its length. I just measured the inside and the longest card i can fit is 270mm. What card would you suggest instead?
I'm looking at a Nvidia Geforce 2GB GTX660, if thats compatible?

I can't recommend the GTX660 unless it is super cheap because it is aging and the R9-270X and the GTX760 beat it performance wise.

Both cards are available in the 230-250mm length form factor
