Before I say the issue, here are my specs: AMD FX 6200, Nvidia Geforce GTX 660, 10 GB RAM, 2 TB hard drive. I really don't know much about it since I got it from Best Buy. Any who, lately I have been having some issues with my PC, mainly internet browsing. Games run fine, at the same FPS they used to but now for some reason, my Google Chrome crashes frequently, and I have to restart it, I also will tell you what I have done to my PC and what has been happening since. I was lagging on Borderlands 2 a little, so I looked up how to boost your PC's performance (I think you know where I'm going with this) and I clicked on this video. This guy said to create a text document, and type in some sort of RAM usage code, and change it to a .vbe file. Now I have no idea what this is AT ALL but I did it anyways. Anyways he said to double click on it and run it, and I did but nothing happened, so I assumed it increased the RAM I was using or something. The next step he said was to go to run, type in msconfig or something and change the amount of CPU cores in the thing to the maximum number that was in there, so I did. After I did all that, I went ahead and downloaded Avast internet security (free version) because people told me it was good. Now my computer, well the web browser at least is running slower and taking longer to load pages and things. I am extremly scared and I need help. chances are you have made some changes that should not have been made.first thing is to do a system restore to before this happened.this is the easiest fix.make no tweaks to windows unless you have thoroughly researched them.if you really want to tweak windows for better performance let me know once this is resolved and i will give you a link.
