I purchased a seagate 2t hybrid drive for some additional storage since my old HDD was filling up. I cannot get this thing to be detected. I have tried a lot of things, all to no avail.

1) plugged in by itself the drive is detected
1.1) the drive is working

2) switching the sata ports has made no difference (neither has trying a new sata cable)

3) i have tried 3gb and 6bg, neither works

4) disk manager will not show it

5) all of my sata ports are set to auto detect

6) saw another user solve a very similar issue with discwizard from seagate, mine wont work
because it says "To install the product at least one seagate product should be installed"

7) updated my bios (when attempting to fix this on my old mobo back in april)
7.1) i purchased a good friends old mobo when he upgraded and he had recently updated the bios
on it, I assumed, since the board is newer the likelihood of this undetected hybrid drive would
disappear, I was wrong.

been sitting on this issue since april and nothing seems to work.
on a side note a glimmer of hope; I switched the HDD to my 6gb sata 1 slot and attached the SSHD to 6gb sata slot 0 and when I booted the first time (and only the first time) it noticed them both in my bios, after checking the disk manager (with no results) i rebooted and it did not see them both.

the mobo i upgraded to is the ASUS P6X58D-E
extreme edition of this one here:

Thanks in advance to any help getting this solved, as I said, been sitting on this since april and the frustration is incredible.

update 2: I feel nearly bonkers even as i type this but i noticed some patterns today.
I'm having a lot of trouble getting windows to keep my internet connection going. when I boot my pc my connection will say there is no ethernet cable plugged in, the only fix i have found is to re-install the drivers for the ethernet adapter from the mobo disk and restart the PC. The correlation I have noticed between these matters is what i'm doubting my sanity over. Every time I boot the pc after a shut down the bios detects the 2tb hybrid drive but the ethernet adapter doesn't work. I re-install the drivers for the adapter, restart the PC and upon the reboot, the bios no longer detects the hybrid. No idea what this means, again, all help greatly appreciated!

not sure how to apply a firmware update to a drive that in not detected. Can you elaborate please?
MOBO does not support UEFI
have not tried all 9 sata ports, however 4 of them have given the same results, 2 of which work for my other devices

When the bios does recognize it,can't you get this to work?

Have you updated all drivers for the latest motherboard?

I have not updated the mobo drivers and will look into that. Another thing to note: I decided to boot with just the sshd and get windows on it but when I get to "where do you want to install windows?" The drive does not appear even though it's reporting in bios
