Hi Guys
I will be getting the parts about 15-20% cheaper than listed through a friend, also the currency is in NZD so anyone from overseas please take that into consideration =)
This PC is intended to be a budget gaming PC, I don't want to have to upgrade for a good 3-4 years.
This is my first build, so I want to get it right, here is what I have picked out so far:
Intel New Haswell Core i5-4590 3.3GHz 6MB - $270.25
Sapphire R9 270X 2G GDDR5 PCI-E Video card 1020MHz / 5600MHz - $297.85
ZALMAN ZM600-GV 600W ATX PSU - $120.75
Zalman Z1 Front Mesh Mid Tower Case - Two System Fans - $79.35
G.SKILL Ripjaws X 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz (PC3 12800) - $136.85
Gigabyte GA-H81M-S2PH Socket 1150 Intel H81 Chipset - $90.85
WD Blue Edition 1TB 3.5" SATA3 Internal HDD 7200RPM 64M CACHE - $83.95
LG GH24NSB0 24X SATA INTERNAL SATA DVD WRITER - $40.25
Please note I am not looking to go for an i7 or a 280X etc due to the cost, but definitely looking for advice/input on the parts I have picked and happy to switch to similar parts.
Please also note I won't be over clocking anything.
Also to note I will be getting a free SSD & O/S from my friend.
So anyway, here is the reasoning behind my choices:
CPU: This particular CPU is only about $10 more expensive than the 4460, but about $35 cheaper than the 4690, I definitely want an i5 because of its performance vs price ratio, have I picked the right one? If not, why not?
GPU: I've settled on a 270X, I can get the Asus TOP one for about $30 more. It comes out of the box OC at 1100mhz I beileve, as I won't be overlocking, would this be the better choice to go for or would the performance difference be marginal?
PSU: This is a bronze rated PSU, the silver/gold rated ones that are 550W+ are like another $50+. I picked it due to its price vs quality (I can get very generic 500-550W ones for alot cheaper) is this a good choice or should I be going for a silver/gold one?
Case: I was going to go with a cool master one for another $30, however it only came with one fan and this one comes with two, also I don't like the LED lights on the cool master. I don't intend to add any extra fans, is it likely to suit my needs and have good enough cooling out of the box, or should I look for a better case?
RAM: Everyone said to get 2 x 4GB instead of a standalone 8GB stick, everyone said to go for this brand. Happy to hear otherwise.
Mobo: This comes with a backup bios, so if the main one dies the board keeps running, It seems like the best choice of the non-overlocking boards, are there better cheap choices?
HDD: Cheapest 1TB HDD, seems fine, happy to get feed back on choice
DVD Drive: Cheapest one I could fine, seems fine, happy go get feed back on choice.
