Recently I have clean formatted my PC Desktop since I was having the black screen with mouse issue in my previous OS. However, after reformatting my PC, I realized that the LAN port is not working. I didn't noticed previously but I believe the Ethernet LAN port usually blinks but today when I noticed, it was not blinking. I tried installing Realtek LAN drivers but it returned me an error saying that the network controller adapter was not found. Can someone please help me?

I have Windows 8.1 x64 and there are no LAN adapter setting in my Network & Sharing.

I am not at all good in hardware stuffs so it will take a while to find someone who can replace the NIC for me. Is there any other way to get around this problem? Also, how can I be sure if my current NIC is broken or not?

I installed the realtek LAN driver which came with my motherboard disc and in the end of the installation it said that Realtek Network Controller can't be detected. Please check if deep sleep is enable.... (and some more stuffs).

Right looks like the best way forward would be a NIC as mentioned above.
These are inexpensive and easy to fit ,just plug it into the PCI slot on the motherboard and load the provided drivers and you are good to go.
