Computer Purpose
1) Gaming only! I am trying to optimize for gaming
2) And watching blurays, surfing the net, Microsoft office lol

Types of games
1) Cryengine3 based games like Star Citizen
2) Also want to get into Elite Dangerous
3) Multiplayer internet shooters

Modifications
1) No SLI/Cross-fire.......unless I win the lottery and figure out how to
2) No overclock...........that's why I choose 4790k 4.ghz over 4690k 3.5ghz and I don't know how to overclock but I would like to keep my options open in future case
3) SSD drive - yes I plan to but not immediately. All I know is they require M.2 slot. If I go the M.2 route, I don't want it restricting my graphics card lanes. I read that somewhere and have no clue what that means.

Buying new
CPU - 4790k
Cooler - Corsair h100i (I want the cpu to run super cool even if I'm not OC'ing. I also live in a hot tropical country by the way)
GPU - Gigabyte Windforce GTX 970
Case - Corsair 450D

- Everything else I will carry over from my old computer. I will look into getting expensive and fast RAM but I won't overclock it.

Z97 Motherboard
1) No RED please! How did almost every manufacturer go with the same red scheme???!
2) Corsair case has the side window. Windforce lights up blue and so can the Corsair cooler which will look soooo cool.
3) I just want the computer to have a cool neon feel to it and red and blue are too much of a contrast in my opinion

- At first I was set on Asrock Extreme4 because it was blue and price
- Then I read that having the same brand of motherboard and GPU would be good
- Then I found the UD3H-BK (Black) and it looks pretty sweet but I don't know what features I give up for what. I prefer black over the standard ud3h (orange)

Budget = $200-$225 realistically. I could go higher if you make a compelling case

What do you think?

Your advice is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Try an ASRock Z97 Extreme 4 or Asus Z97-A per http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/mainstream-gaming-z...
or ASRock Z97 Extreme 6 per http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/enthusiast-z97-moth...

What if I had to choose between the UD3H-BK or Extreme4?

I can see how the Extreme6 is better than Extreme4. (the number is higher =))......So are you saying the Asrock Extreme is better than the ud3h-bk? Could you explain a little as to why?

And are you also saying that the Asus Z97-A is better than the ud3h-bk? Could you explain a little why please?

The black board looks pretty cool but I don't know what features or performance it lacks
