Hi all,
Just wondering why I can't get the below model into 1366x768 display setting... Toshiba L500 PSLS6A-00X013.

http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/satellite/l500/psls6a-00x013/specifications

I just loaded Windows 7 Ultimate onto it (not the disc included with Laptop) and downloaded the Intel graphics driver from Toshiba website just in case. No luck after doing that. In device manager it says the Intel HM55Express Chipset (3B09) is installed and working correctly however when I try and change the display settings to 1366x768 there is only one option of 1024x768 in the "1: Generic PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and no option of Intel HM55 Express Chipset etc.

I'm thoroughly lost trying to figure out how to get my display looking right. Currently it all looks warped and stretched an 1024 x768.

Any idea, comment, help appreciated.

The graphics driver hasn't installed properly.

You may need to install the chipset driver first, it's listed as Intel Chipset Utility, then install the graphics driver again: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/l500/psls6a-00x013/download?os=24

Had you installed Windows from the supplied Toshiba recovery media, all the correct drivers would have been automatically installed in the correct order (chipset driver should always be installed first). Since you've not used the Toshiba recovery media, you're left to your own devices where drivers are concerned, so you need to know what you're doing.

Thank you for your fast response..

I believe I might have actually done it in that order, of the several times I reinstalled and tried. However stupid me, all I needed to do was download 1 optional (Intel HM55 Graphics Update) through 'windows update' to get it all working. I just hate having ANYTHING additional on computers, including windows and ANY of their crap updates. I've taken the risk of "under-installing" and "under-updating" for almost 10 years and it's typically served me pretty well. In this case I was just being a little too hasty and needed to slow down and think for a minute! First time I've had to use windows update, ever.

Nonetheless, cheers for the speedy response : )
