question that cant get off my head for quite a while. What i've managed to decide is that i must upgrade,my wimpy i3-2100 just can't take it anymore,I cant take it anymore.again same 2 choices either fx-6300,aftermarket cooler, new case and motherboard.. probably M5A97 or UD3P or i5-4460 with that fancy anniversary edition made specifically for G3258 ASRock Z97M Anniversary.

Still having hard time deciding.. sure i5 is superior and doesnt need OC'ing for excellent performance, but it would toss out the abillity to change my annoying case with horrible drilling, buzzing, coil whining or whatever sounds of hell coming from it,also couldnt change fan and would have to stick with my 3 years old intel stock fan (noticed i5-4460 sold here come without fans so have to use old 1) on the other hand buying i5 would mean that i support market monopoly of intel, overpaying for a tiny square metal scrap, accepting intels silent idea of turning people into dumbfucks which cant even overclock and generally some bad karma.

Anyway focusing on main questions: Is Z97M anniversary a decent board? studied some reviews semes like they tossed out all the unneccessary features what is just wonderful news, however i've been attracted that it's anniversary edition, a.k.a limited edition and will turn unobtainable/rare someday, major selling point for me, love owning limited edition stuff, the full ATX Z97 could possibly better but mind in if im getting i5 im sticking with my old case, which only supports micro ATX..

There's some alternatives too.. are FX-8320E and i5-4460S decent enough for nowdays gaming? Love running energy efficient, thats why I got GTX 750 Ti.All the K edition ones are out of my budget but I could also consider 4590 and 4590S,if there's any other affordable options, toss em in guys no i3's please, i'd better shoot myself than buy a i3 again, suggest if there's any fine limited edition motherboards too!

If you have a core i3-2100, you must have an LGA-1155 motherboard.
If you can find a core i5 2400 or 2500 this will be a big upgrade for you.
You can buy an after market cooler like the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO if you want.

Don't buy a low power CPU (S and E models mentioned above).
If you want lower power consumption for the same performance, stick with Intel.

are S and E models that bad? heard many positive reviews about em..very odd.. those CPUs you mentioned are not for sale and after 1-2 years might not be capable of serious gaming, my motherboard is really awful gigabyte H61M.. definetly gotta change it,also jsut look at that anniversary Z97M packaging! looks so amazing.

Low power models simply limit performance to stay under a lower power ceiling. Not what you want for games.
Sandy-bridge processors are still very good. These are still in the top tier of the CPU hierarchy:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-o...

Notice that AMD doesn't even have a processor in this tier.

If you want to change your motherboard, then a Haswell refresh processor makes sense.
You could choose a H97 board with a core i5 4460, 4590 or 4690.
The jump to a Z97 board with a core i5 4690K is a fairly big jump in cost, but you can overclock this.
With any of these, you can use the same after market cooler I suggested before.
You will certainly want an after market cooler if looking to overclock the 4690K.

dude damn just noticed you're the same guy which were praising R9 290s.. and now you're tossing that link which i obviously already knew.. definetly some odd choices there putting i3-2100 so high while it should be way below many AMD models..im not buying i5-4690K since it has psychologically uncomfortable 300$ pricetag here and i have just 300$ to spend.

I don't know about praising, just a more balanced response.
It is going to be difficult to get a CPU, motherboard and cooler for $300 that is a worth while upgrade to what you have.
You have a great platform. The Core i5 2400 or 2500 will be a little harder to get, but a worthwhile upgrade on your current CPU. You may even find a Core i7 2600.

i got a cooler...and im not getting the K series most likely man you know it..

OMFG YOU'RE THE FIRST GUY WHICH SAID I HAVE A GREAT PLATFORM- my PC sucks is the square piece of shit I keep kicking and hitting daily. I play only multiplayer games, they're heavy on CPU,the low end cheap piece of crap we call i3-2100 cant handle anything even if i turn settings down to low, when lot action comes to screen- poof fps down from like 120-200 to like 20-50.. most nowdays games require stable 50-60+ FPS any moment, mind in i got nothing running in background, doing mainteance often, getting HDD defragged, wiping free space, clearing out cache etc..

most likely im considering getting i5-4590 ,keeping the current stock cooler and since its not OC'able CPU might get H97M motherboard, huge upgrade from my H61M

want a list of games which int working nicely? sure here's some examples:

CoD:Ghosts,on medium 20-60 fps,stuttering as fk,getting screwed over with like 5 kills/15 deaths

Warframe,on medium 20-200 fps,all seems fine before im getting onslaughted by swarm of mobs, FPS drops extremely sharply, very noticable poor performance of game, playable but unpleasant gaming performance

Path of Exile, on high,15-200 fps, when soloing performance is fluent and im getting consistent 100+FPS even in intense moments, however as it comes to group of 4 people mapping- poof unplayable performance, desyncs etc.

Mech Warrior Online, on lowest 15-90 fps, very CPU heavy game, not all maps give me bearable performance even on lowest settings and even when just moving, hugely disadvantaged agianst other players, moreover they got clan mechs which are clearly OP,so im just the meatshield for our teams clan-mechs,getting ripped to pieces, zombie builds.

DDO, on high, 30-120 fps CPU load in this one seems low, however again once in middle of fight fps drops sharply, some slight freeze or stutter and BAM! either i fall of a cliff, get raped by traps or just cornered and piled down by mobs.

ESO, on medium 20-160 fps same issues as in aforementioned games, lot stuff going on screen and enjoy your unplayable as fk performance.

don't dare to blame this on my net which is excellent optical fiber 200MB/s net, never had issues with it.

I meant the Sandy-bridge platform (LGA 1155).
You have one of the weakest CPUs that can be used in this motherboard.

A new CPU will generally come with a new stock cooler. It is a little noisy but OK if not overclocking.
