What do I upgrade my graphics card to?

Okay so I got bamboozled by the vendor of my parts that I needed an AMD GPU if I'm gonna use an AMD CPU , yes, I was stupid. But that's in the past now, and the GTX970 just came out and I'm starting to think that this R7 250 2GB DDR3 with boost is getting crappier and crappier as the days go on.

I was thinking of Crossfire or SLI (2-way) cause those look awesome and I mine bitcoins (desperate for money eh?) but I don't do it full time.

My birthday and Christmas is coming so I was thinking of hinting to my big guys to buy me a new gpu (I'm still studying and have no job dont judge me).

I need a great card that can run next gen games on at least MEDIUM OR HIGH
and is cheap of course

and i am a HUGE amd fanatic and I would prefer my video card to stay AMD :)

Bamboozled by your vendor? You mean sucked in by the super cheap price tag on that R7-250 lol. You get what you pay for PhotoshopLOL, more you pay longer it lasts generally. What about R9-270x or R9-280(x) as your budget allows?

BTW, being a fan of one team or the other (AMD/nVidia) is really a bad idea. You're seriously limiting your options without good cause.

I was thinking of the R9 270x but I think there is a more cheaper and better card that nvidia has but I don't know which so ya

Give me an AMD gpu and an NVIDIA gpu and I will decide on which to buy from the two

The vendor said that I needed an AMD video card if i'm gonna use an AMD CPU
He then proceeded to point me to the R7 250 and yes, i was blinded by the price cause it was cheap. That guy is a douche :(

I noticed you're into mining too, I'm not sure if that's feasible using GPU's any more. So I wouldn't focus too much on that ability. Gaming is your main requirement. Looks like you have a decent PC in your sig too. Try for R9-280 or R9-280x, if it's beyond your budget look at R9-270x or R9-270. Hope that helps.
