So right now I have an r9 270x and a stock fx 8320. Couple days ago I saw the new gtx 970 and immediately fall in love with it, so now I am thinking of upgrading my 270x but the problem is I don't know if my fx 8320 will slow down the gtx 970. From what I have heard, the gtx 970 performance rivals the 780ti. I play at 1080p and most modern titles. I do not play cpu bounds games other than league of legends. So would a stock 8320 bottleneck the gtx 970 because I don't want to see it happen again because my motherboard bottleneck my second 270x. Please don't ask me to go intel, there is a reason why i didn't. btw my motherboard wont bottle neck the gtx 970 it only bottleneck the second r9 270x because it had a 4x lane and didnt really support crossfire really well.

Your CPU will not bottleneck the 970, so you're good to go. The reference 970 is actually similar to the 780 in performance, but the overclocked versions lean more toward the 780 Ti.

There will be no noticeable bottleneck and yes 970 is just 5% slower than 780ti.

thanks, o and I was planning to get the ssc edition from evga but I heard the cooling and noise suck on it. Since you have one, can you tell me if this is true. I'm planning to overclock it to gtx 780ti level or better. I heard strix and twinfrorz is the best currently but I want to know from an owner not some reviewers.

The EVGA card default fan speed settings are high and that is the reason why there have been many complaints about fan noise. EVGA should be releasing a video BIOS update to fix the issue, but I was able to resolve the issue by setting the auto fan curve on quiet mode in EVGA Precision X. My GPU temps max out at about 76°C in Crysis 3 ultra. The temps are quite cooler in other games, though. Overall, quality is nothing special, but the performance is fantastic!
