So I wanted to have 12gb of RAM in my custom build.
But in my country (the Netherlands) the 12gb sets are very limited.
So if I wanted to have a good set of RAM Memory. The best way to go is to buy 8gb (2x4) and another 4gb (1x4). I assume this is possible and compatible. But just to make sure, could anyone tell me this thought is right?
We're talking about the G.Skill Ripjaws X Series (2x4) and the G.Skill Ripjaws X Series (1x4).
It sounds logical to me that they're identical and therefor will work together.
Any suggestions about another set of RAM are very much appreciated too.
Thanks for helping me!

why do you want 3 sticks of RAM, most motherboards support dual channel, so you'll be better of only using 8gb in dual channel then using 12gigs without dul channel(unless you are going to do some serious edditing, in which case you'll be better of with 12gigs)

There's no guarantees in mixing packages of DRAM - even the same exact model, XMP is programmed by the packaged set (# of sticks), and all sticks in a package are test to ply together, If you pulled ten sticks right off an assembly line out of all ten you might only find 4 that will work as a 4 stick set
