Buying a GTX 980 in Italy

Hello,

I am a bit lost here. I've been holding out on upgrading my GTX 760 for some time, and now that that the GTX 980 is out at a lower price than even the GTX 780 TI, I've decided to upgrade to one.

The problem is that where I currently live (Egypt) The card is not yet available, and will not be for god knows how long. And when it's available, it will be horrendously expensive, for the average $550 it goes for at the moment in the US.

So my solution was to have an acquaintance buy the card for me, when they're abroad, at a local retailer (therefore locally priced), and bring it back with them when they return. Ideally, in the US. However, the soonest trip an acquaintance of mine is making abroad, is to Italy, in Perguia, to be exact.

So I have several questions on the matter. My father will be visiting Perugia on the 12th of next month, is he likely to find a GTX 980 at a local PC hardware retailer there, or is it too soon since the release?

Secondly, if it can be found there, would the average price be much higher than the average of 550 USD in the US?

Thirdly and finally, If the answer to both questions is yes, then are there any specifics retailers you would recommend in Perugia?

Again, I am quite at a loss here, as I've never bought hardware except locally. So this is a new experience for me. Any and all advice/tips are very appreciated.

Thank you.

Personally I wouldnt go to a shop even if they have them in stock because they will be overpriced. Get your father to order one from an EU website like mindfactory.de or hardwareversand.de and possibly have it shipped to him.

But wouldn't the shipping costs (plus the other expenses) run up a high tab for the card? The primary reason that I didn't order the card and have it shipped to Egypt, is because it would cost a whole lot more, and with all the added expenses it would easily exceed my budget.
