Hello, I'm building my first custom pc and I ordered a GTX 770 gpu. Now my question is if I should cancel my GTX 770 order and wait around 3 weeks to get the GTX 970 (I live in Belgium so it's very hard to get atm) OR just go for the GTX 770? Also the GTX 970 is currently 80 euros more than the 770 so yeah.. :p

Get the GTX 970. It's better performance than the GTX 770. Plus you'll get extra AA features.

Yeah but is it worth waiting 3 weeks and spending even more money? Also who knows what they'll release next year with 4k gaming coming etc it might just be worth getting the 770 and upgrade to the gen that they will release next year don't you think? :)

Yes, it's worth. GTX 970 is equivalent in performance with a GTX 780. And also, there's a resolution downsampling AA (4K res extra power downsamples to a 1080p), Voxel lighting improvements, power efficiency, and many other features the tech savvy would drool for.

The 770 is more than capable at running games on ultra at 60 fps, It really annoys me when people are try to get everyone to buy the new 900 series, but what exactly are you wanting to do with your pc? Gaming? If so don't get the 970 its not needed

jackstrr, the new 900 series spends all the extra performance. That's Max+Anti-Aliasing.

He's most likely only going to be playing at 1080p, why spend the extra money when it's not need at all for gaming? He will be able to get solid 60 fps on ultra with the 770, that's all that is needed

Cause, it's down sampling from 4K to 1080P. It's extra performance, used in efficient and good ways. And better lighting, MSAA, and all other features that improve on the image quality. If he doesn't want to spend extra, and wants a PC right now, I guess GTX 770 is also fine too.

Wait, do you want the computer now? Like you're having a fit if your parents made you wait? Just asking. If so, get the GTX 770 and select him as the answer. If you're willing to wait, then get the GTX 970.

I would only want to spend extra money on the GTX 970 if that means I don't have to buy a new gpu for another few years which is unlikely

I don't mind waiting although I'd rather not. It's more about the fact that in my country the gtx 970 is an extra 80 euros ($100) and I'm already spending more than I wanted
