My task manager says that my ram usage is extremely high!

It is hard to figure out how much ram you are using or really need.
Windows keeps code in ram in anticipation of reuse.
It may also swap out code to free up some ram to cover the possibility that it may be needed quickly.
Probably one should not worry too much if you have 16gb.
Look at the hard page fault rate, It should be near zero.
