will a i5 4430 work on the gateway lx6810-05 mother board G5403.05?

have a q8200 dual core and want to up date to the i5. Not sure if this change is compatible with the mother board on my gateway lx6819-01 computer.

No, its not.

The motherboard is socket 775, the I5 4430 needs a socket 1150.

You will need a new motherboard, DDR3 RAM to use that CPU.

I hate to tell you this, but you can't upgrade to any Core ix processors. You have the LGA 775 socket, and those only support up to the Core 2 Quad's like the one you have. Your best upgrade option is the Core 2 Quad Q9650, but those are pricey and hard to come by. It might be time to get a new computer.
