Hey guys I had a question. So I have my i5 3570k overclocked to 4.5 GHZ and manually set the voltage to 1.325 so why is it that when I am idling CPU-Z displays 1.320 Voltage however when I run prime95 stress test the voltages start dropping down to around 1.260 Voltage. Shouldn't this be the other way around? When Im running prime it should be 1.320 and when Im idling it should be 1.260. So is this normal behavior? Thanks.

P.S When im Idle my MHZ is at 1600 in case anyones wondering and 4500 mhz on prime.

EDIT: Sorry guys false alarm =( I forgot to put my OC back to 4.5 so it was making my voltages go lower cause it didn't need that much power. Everything works as it should now idleing on 1.35 voltage and going up to 1.36 volts on load.

Solution
1.35v is very high and would require a tremendous cooling solution to deal with the heat produced. can you at least maintain temps lower than 80c? even so i would run such setting only for testing and not for 24/7 and every day usage! better stick with anything lower than 1.3v regardless the ghz achieved!

Intel Temperature Guide

when you are testing stability and monitoring your cpu's thermal performance there isnt a reason running on power saving modes. switch to high performance power plan!

Hey thanks for the reply, I did end up lowering it to 1.3V on 4.4 GHZ as you said I soon found out the temperatures were ridiculous on 1.35volts. Its sitting at a comfortable 65 degrees now and going around 75 on prime.

ok, 75c at 1,3v is acceptible.however make sure you stress testing last long enough. if 75c are reached by the first minute(s) most probably wont (cant) be sustained for the next hour or two!
