Greetings

I'm trying to find the best memory compatability solution to my desktop without lowering the speed at all.

I have

G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model F3-16000CL9D-4GBRH

MOBO
ASUS P7P55D Deluxe LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

and I want to buy something not too expensive, So I was thinking between 50 and 80 bucks that's compatible. At least 4GB of it to make 8 total.

Thank you!

CAS latency, timings, and voltage should match. IMO you should sell your ram and get these [2 x 4GB] Gskill for 82$

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

also these are 2 x 4gb so less stress on your memory controller, provides future upgrade as well.
Good-luck!

Well, in the case of the ones I ordered, the latency of the ones I have is 9-9-9-27 and the ones i just ordered are 9-10-9-28 so I think it should be fine.
That's the only difference in all the numbers and I payed $50 bucks instead of 8.

your option would have been more convinient but I just ordered them and It'd have to go through the process of selling them and that's a pain in the ass.

thanks tho!

No guarantees when mixing DRAM from different packages, even if you buy a second package of the exact same model - best to get a 2x4GB set...then if your old works with them it's a bonus, else can sell the old or use in another rig

Tradesman1 is right. No guarantee when mixing ram. You already ordered so keep your fingers crossed and give it a try. I think it might work. Good-luck!

and I just bought

everything is same, only timing is slightly different. As you already ordered, there is no need to worry.

GSKILL replied an email and said

"Dear Customer,

Mixing memory kits, even of the same model number, may result in compatibility issue. G.SKILL will guarantee the compatibility for single memory kit only.

However, you may have to raising the DRAM voltage to 1.6v~1.65v to stable the system, please note!

If any problems with the new set, give me a shout, as GSkill said raising the DRAM voltage may help them play, may also need a little to the MC (memory controller) :)

OH thank you! I shall! I've downloaded prime95 and will test it with games and how it responds.
