Hi All,

I am currently looking to upgrade my PC with a new GPU. Since the GTX 900's were released recently, I was thinking about getting the 970 or 980. The issue is which one to get. My PC may be bounded by its CPU and Case size. If someone could help with the questions below, it would be very helpful.

1. I currently have a i7 3770 (not 3770k). Will a 980 result in a bottleneck issue?
2. I have a Antec 300 case and its pretty crowded inside. The dimensions of the 670 and 970 are the same. However the 980 is slightly larger. Would the 980 be able to fit nicely inside this case? There is some room, but I am not sure how cluttered things might get or how efficiently heat will flow.

Thanks for the help.

1. No.

2. The 970 produces about the same heat as the 670, no worries there.

3. The 980 non refernce cards are quite expensive right now, I wouldn't be buying any till prices driven up by the onslaught of peeps wanting the latest and greatest, chills a bit.

The MSI 970's design and construction set it above the competition.

Hey,

If I were you I would probably get the 970 now and keep the system for another year or two. By then you will probably want to change the CPU/Mobo combo and since by then prices of the 970 would have dropped significantly you could just get a second one for SLI.

Just an idea.
