Is building a gaming PC with a mini-ATX motherboard worth it or should I spend more for the full ATX?

Should I buy AMD or Intel?

I'm considering this one.

I dont see a point in atx because I dont go three way sli/crossfire and dont use sound cards. I usually run a GPU and RAID card. Remember you can still run a RAID/Sound Card and two gpu's on matx.

You should buy intel. give mew your budget on the pc alone and ill give you a build. Also tell me what you will use the build for.

Micro-ATX or Mini-ITX. The one you linked is Micro-ATX.

As Pakonater states, it depends on how many expansion cards you eventually will need. If all you need is a graphics card, then there's no reason to go with a full ATX motherboard. On the other hand, if you used a dual-slot graphics card and later needed a PCI-Ex1 card for something, that motherboard wouldn't work for you.

If you only need a gpu get M-ITX. I am building a pc with it right now and its great for small powerful builds and some of the ITX mobos have built in WIFI.

Budget is ridiculously small $300-400
I was thinking of getting these,
Case: Rosewill Dual Fans MicroATX Mini Tower
HDD: WD Blue 1 TB
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 4GB Single DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL9 @1.5V UDIMM 240-Pin(upgrade to 8GB if/when needed)
CPU: AMD A8-5600K APU 3.6Ghz
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 430 Watt
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
LG Electronics Optical DVD Drive

Possibly reusing one of my GPU's
GeForce 8400 GS
Radeon HD 5450 1Gb

Reusing my current monitor, keyboard and mouse.

I would use it mostly for gaming, and probably only with one GPU (I only found out in the last few days that some people actually use more than one.)

I recommend an ITX build.

Although it is fifty dollars out of your budget it would suit what you need it for. With the specs it wont utilize more than 4gb of RAM. It also has an ssd for faster booting. This is my brothers pc but with a different GPU.

Also remember to choose the best answer.
(I'm assuming you already have win 7)
