Hi there :- )

I want to buy a 7 days to die server (game server) and set up at home

(The server shall only host one game and possibly a Teamspeak server)

However, I can not figure out what kind of CPU will be the best choice.
(CPU cores vs GHz)? is there someone who know how many cores a 7 days to die server can use?

Really hope there is someone who can help: -)

Solution
Thats the speed, not the bandwith.

6-8 cores will be better than 4, given you're talking about true cores, not half amd fx series ones.
A four core intel with hyperthreading should do the trick for at least 32 players. The I7 4790k should be able to handle some more. If that still isn't enough for you, you can go with an I7 5960x, x99 motherboard, 32gb of ddr4 ram and an aftermarket cooler. That will give you more performance, but fails completely taking the extra price into consideration.

Thanks for the quick reply. :- D

I am sorry that I forgot to tell my goal is to get the best setup so I can get as many plays on the server at once.

What I get out of the link is just what the minimum for the hardware is :S

More cores is better in general, unless it comes to dropping in clock speeds. Then, it comes down to what clock speed they still have and if the application supports enough threads. Servers are usually aiming for lower clock speeds, but higher core count. You could also go with a xeon e3-1231v3, by the way. It isn't as fast as the i7 4790k and doesn't have an integrated GPU, but supports ECC memory. ECC memory shoulnt really be important to you, though, as I doubt you'll save highly sensible information on a game server.

It makes so more sense to me :- )

But there is still a little unclear to me is how many Cores / Thread - 7 days to die server supports.

If we say the server supports 6 Cores / 12 thread and 2 cores two windoes then the best CPU is a 8 cores with such a high clock speed as possible

But there is still a little unclear to me is how many Cores / Thread - 7 days to die server supports.

It would be stupid to buy a 8 cores CPU (Intel) if the server only supports 4 cores where it was more important with higher clock speed?
