Windows 8.1 update 10 hours to install - HELP

Started windows 8.1 update @ 1030AM CST
Its now 7PM CST

AMD A-Series A6-4400M (2.70GHz)
8GB Memory 1TB HDD
AMD Radeon HD 7520G
Windows 8 64-Bit

Little circle is rotating below HP but nothing else.

So its hanging after it rebooted after an update? Or it hung while installing an update?

Honestly dont know, it started process and I had to handle a phone call (1 hr) came back and screen was black.
Moved mouse and in a few minutes HP popped up and the little circle keeps swirling...

I assume you mean a hard shut down?
It goes right back to same screen......
no boot or nothing

Sounds like something is wrong then ! If its got a restore option in it, you may have to use it

Disconnect Internet
Hard shut down
Now it says restoring your previous version of windows.

Dont put it on install updates automatically under windowsupdate

Well for now...
Updates turned off..
Back to windows 8 after 12+ hrs of just sitting..(Oh the pain)
No update for me for now I guess...
Have to do some more investigation...

**shutting down with internet connection off did it though..

when i power back up it reverted back to previous windows install and all is well...

It looks like that error may mean something isnt compatible. Are there any Steel series mouse drivers installed on this?

It maybe something else. too. Heres a MS post about that error

Here's another site with a possible fix

Uninstall any Steel series drivers and Nvidia drivers (If you installed a videocard), and Eset Security / anti virus software before you try again.. Or Trusteer Rapport

And remove everything if its plugged in besides the mouse and keyboard
