Hi,

On my laptop, steam games will randomly just stop responding and crash, and then I won't be able to end their process in task manager, so I can't close steam or open any other games. This also forces me to hold the power button on my laptop if I want to turn it off because it just won't turn off fully otherwise. It's happened on Ultra Street Fighter IV and Risk of Rain. Both online and offline. I don't get it.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

When this happened to me, the support team I called said my video card was bad and to send it back (had the warranty thank god). I don't know if that's the same issue with you but you should check it's temperatures and fans and what-not. It may be getting old or something

They did work fine previously. Although there was a problem before where games would blackscreen randomly and a message "Graphics driver kernel ???.?? has stopped responding and was recovered" however this seemed to stop happening.

It's only a year old, and this issue has only been happening for the last week.

I think kernel is related to the drivers(?) Not sure on that. Try updating them maybe

Sorry but my best suggestion is to check your GPU. Laptops aren't easy with that though... Check the temps and listen closely when you run it. Other than that I could only presume that it's a software issue. Try restoring your laptop to a previous state when it did run games. If it still doesn't work, I'd say you're sol
