Hi guys,

Earlier this summer, I moved to a rental house and was forced to connect my desktop PC to the internet wirelessly. In order to do this, I installed the ASUS PCE-n15 wireless adapter. However, I've had problems since the beginning with it. It is connected to my network 100% of the time, in other words, I always have full bars displayed on my desktop and it says I'm connected to the internet. BUT, very occasionally can I actually load the internet. When trying to diagnose this problem earlier today, I got a message saying that "My computer is properly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding".

So this is why I can't get on the internet sometimes, I'm assuming? Are there any solutions to this problem?

By the way, the wi-fi works completely fine in this house with other wireless devices. (3-4 laptops, 3-4 phones). I ran a speedtest of my connection earlier and had 22 ms ping to my closest server, 16 down, 11 up. My ISP is Comcast.

To change your DNS settings:
1. Go to Network and Sharing Center
2. Click 'Change adapter settings' on the left
3. Right-click your wifi adapter, click 'Properties'
4. Click on 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' and click on 'Properties'
5. Select 'Use the following DNS server addresses:' and enter the DNS server addresses. I use Google DNS, which is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, but OpenDNS is good too, and that's 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220
6. Click 'OK'

Comcast and Time Warner Cable both have terrible DNS servers....As jakjawagon stated - using Google DNS or OpenDNS is a much better method.
