I have an Hp Pavilon HPE desktop that has a pretty bad GPU( AMD Radeon HD 7570) and I was looking to upgrade. I tried installing my AMD RADEON HD 7770, which does work on another computer, but it didn't work. I have tried other graphics cards that have been tested and work on other computers too.I uninstalled all the old drivers and installed the new ones for the card also. I have a sufficient power supply to run all of the graphics cards I have tried. Could someone please help me find a solution for this problem? I am tired of running my games on medium to low settings on 720p and would love to get my graphics card working.

Thanks in advance :)

1. You will have to be more specific on how it did not work.

The graphics card works fine in other computers, but when I install it and turn on my computer, all I get is a black screen.

Maybe try leaving it out and setting the onboard graphics first and hook up monitor through MOBO. Then put it in and see if it is recognized.

I'm not sure of the manufacturer, but it is the stock PSU that came with the system. It is 460W.

Also, on the bottom of my graphics card, there is a green light when the psu is plugged in. When I unplug it, it turns red. Is this a indicator of whether it is receiving sufficient power?(If it helps, my gpu manufacturer is Asus, and it's the 1gb model)

My guess is going to be your PSU might be shot, Yeah it may power up your really old GPU, that requires very little power. But for these newer GPU's it requires just a bit more juice that the PSU may not have, which results in, the gpu not being powered aka Black screen.

When you plug your 7770 into your PC, when you power your PC on do the fans move?

Yes the fans do move. Also one of the other cards I mentioned trying to put into my PC didn't require a pcie power connector. That's why I don't think it's my psu. The other computer I put the 7770 in had a 400 watt psu, so shouldn't it work?

Wattage doesn't matter, amperage does.
Maybe the 400W PSU is a good one, and yours is a cheap one(sorry).
Can't really tell without the manufacturer of both PSU's.

Along with what I posted above, even if you have a 400 watt PSU and it does work. What really matters it the amps that are on the 12v rail.. If it does not have the amount of amps, the card wont function.

You'd be surprised on what a faulty PSU can do too a PC...

My vote: Buy a new PSU. 500w+ from a reputable brand. EVGA, XFX, Seasonic.. etc
There not that expensive, roughly 50 bucks, could even buy one from a local best buy etc.
