I recently bought a new psu. Generic one 1200w. Things were going smoothly. Until today. First sometimes even before the new psu I would hear a loud pop coming from the tv speakers ( hdmi connected to a tv). Now today I had this issue. I was about to play dota 2 when my tv screen went black. I was still talking on my headset that was connected to the mobo for a few seconds then it stopped. And had to reset. Checked everything. Turned it on agai and started playing. No issue. After 40 minutes. The same happened but it was worst. First the screen turned off. Then after a few seconds still talking on my Headset with my friends the sound went all scratchy like the gpu rnt bad. Pointing out it was connected to the mobo and not the gpu ( the gpu is a sapphire r7 260x). The pc turned off. I turned it on again. No video or even bios screen. Nothing. I changed the gpu for a sapphire radon hd5670 I have. Sill the same. I took out the mobo. Completely. Using only 1 ram, the hd5670 plugged in and turned it on using the memok button. Now the memok light blinks continuisly. I have no mobo speaker. All fans turn on. Even the gpu. If I connect any hdd they turn on. But still. No bios screen In fact the tv does not detect a signal.

So my question is. Is it the mobo? The CPU is a phenom ii x4 955Be. And if it was the CPU I would expect the hdds to not even turn on. But everything seems fine. Except well the now blinkin memok light and no video whatsoever.

Good PSUs are in tiers 1, 2a and 2b of http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1804779/power-supply-unit-tier-list.html. I've no idea where you buy from if you live in Venezuala. Anything of 500W would be fine eg Seasonic 520, XFX550 or Antec HCG 520M

If the 12v rail reading is above 12.2 or below 11.8, I'd get a better PSU.

Ok. Did the check. I just took it out of the case. Try it again. Trning it in Witt he memok button it makes the memok light blink continuisly. Turning it on using a power button from the case doesn't do that. All fans turn on. Even the gpu one. But there is no bios screen. No video at all. I even just put a mobo speaker from an old of I had lying around. No beeps whatsoever. Nothing. I'm trying to boot it with Just the sapphire r7 260x connected, 2gb ddr3 ram stick and well the CPU with stock cooler. Oly that. No post. No bios screen. Only fans turn on. No memok light blinking unless I turn it on using the memok button.

I want to know If it is the mobo or the CPU. I doubt it is the psu. The psu is an r&w 1200w one. And I used it to turn on an old pc. N it worked. The old pc I tested it on it is one with an athlon single core processor and nvidia GeForce old gpu. It is pretty old even using only IDE hdd. But it turned on without issue so I'm ruling out the psu. I'm gonna try to get another CPU to test my mobo. But theothercou is a phenom ii 965 that is having overheating issues on another of and it's missing one pin.and I can't test a anymore than this.

Ok help. Somehow the pc now posts. It gives 2 beeps when turning on. Shows bios and stuff however I saw something strange. Or at least first time I pay attention to it. But the gpu fan turns off for a second like I turn on the pc. All fund go on. The of posts. As soon one beep goes the gpu fa turns off. The. On and keeps going. Dunno if that is Normalvbehavior on a gpu fan. Gonna p,up everything back on the case to see if the issue is resolved.

i dont know if that can help me , i mean i have an asus m4a87td evo but i dont know what are each beep code as i dont find any code table for it .

so far the pc boots, in fact im writing from it right now . when booting it does a short beep and then a somesort of interrupted beep. i dunno if it has done that before as i never connected a speaker to it before. but all in all it boots like normal.

when i was putting it back on the case, i saw that one of the bases where the motherboard sat was out of place and on the floor, i had to put it back on the case and put the motherboard back and reconnected. so far no issues, did some test with games just in case. seems like its working fine , i am even charging an ipad right now . the voltages on hwmonitor seems like the correct ones , they hsow on 3.3v rail a 3.1 to 3.0 v but as it is hwmonitor i take this measure with a grain of salt. if the problem happens again i might just go and check the psu as it is still in warranty.

after searching a bit i found out i have an ami bios, however there is no description for 1 long and 2 short beeps that repeat themselves for a while, after a while it went with 1 long and 3 shorts meaning the ram, however after i tried again it turned on without any issue. i just did a stress test for the gpu, until it reached nearly 80 degrees celsiuum then cpu and the pc has not shutted down or acted strange. im gonna guess it was the case with the motherboard base that lost one of its pillars or whatever they are called . if it happens again i will test the psu.

however just to be clear the symptoms were like this , first i lost video o nthe hdmi connection, no video or audio from tv, tv still expecting signal only that the screen was really black, even the tv dimmed a bit probably low energy mode, i was still talking on my headser for a few seconds until the sound on the headset went bad like glitchy. it happened again and on the second time the pc wouldnt post. i took everything apart tried to turn on the pc outside of the case, same deal, after almost an hour with the mobo sitting outside the case and changing gpus , it finally turned on with the same gpu i had, it probably did a short or something with the case. i must point out that i also found under the mobo one of the rubber supports of my hdd (laptop one) . if it happens again i might post it back here or in a new thread. thanks for the help, the links to the guides on no psot or beeps helped me do a full check , i didnt found the reason of the issue but somehow it got fixed?

also quick question, my motherboeard shows i have 6143 mb of ram, shoulndt it be 6144? i have 3 dimms of 2gb ddr3 , pny tech ones. also the motherboard for some reason but them on a lower speed that they are capable off, and the mobo should be able to handle the speed of it but it makes them run slower . instead of running at full 800mhz they run at 667mhz (they are ddr3-1600 but they run at ddr-1333) and now they show as 6142mb on windows.

thanks for this, also i found out what might be the issue, im runinng a 1200watt generic psu, it is an r&w brand, i cant even find it on google but it was the only cheap one i could find in my country (venezuela) using hwmonitor and stressing the gpu and cpu at the same time , i saw the readings for the 12v rail go from 12.01 to 11.2 V , also the 3.3v rail keeps reading as 3.0 i know it might not be an accurate measure, but this values scare me. if someone can recommend me a cheap psu with good quality that can run my system and not be changed for more than a year i would be happy.

my specs atm are : AMD phenom ii x4 955 BE (planning to overclock and use core unlocker when i get better cooling), sapphire r7 260x oc edition , 6gb of ram ddr3 , planning on getting up to the max my mobo can get which is 16gb of ram in 4 dimms of 4gb. so far im looking at a few corsair ones or even a sentey one but i dont know if sentey is a good brand for psu
