My MSI R9-280 will be here sometime this week also my Computer specifications are in my Signature if needed. My main question is, will my GPU be able to play games such as Assassins Creed Unity, Grand Theft Auto V, Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Evil Within, Destiny, and other games out or is coming out this and next year atleast? Will my R9-280 be able to run them on Ultra and a playable Frame Rate? I just hope it atleast plays them as good as the PS4 and Xbox ONE because this build i am working on is mainly because i am sick of consoles and want something better. I really hope my 280 outdoes the PS4 and XBOX ONE and plays my games on Ultra and a great FPS this build ill be a waste except for the fact of being able to mod :/ I went with the 280 over the 760 because of the 280 out performing the 760 in many ways which makes me stick with the 280 instead.

What is playable for you? 30+ fps? If so yeah.. But I wouldn't consider it to be able to Ultra EVERYTHING. High-Ultra probably. Lower your Shadows and AA and you'll be rockin.

Along with that, Since you got a AMD card. You also have AMD's API called "Mantle", which in a basic sense gives you a FPS boost in certian games compared to DirectX. DA3, BF5 are games that are confirmed that will use Mantle.

Also why does almost every game that comes out nowadays say that it requires an Intel Core i7 to even be playable? DO i really need an i7, i thought most games weigh more on the GPU thanthe CPU? When i check to see if my new i5-4690 i just got can play a game it says it is to slow and needs to be upgraded to an i7 CPU, it even says this on games like GTAIV and Assassins Creed 2 so WTF?

Yea i know it would not be able to ultra everything but i hope it will atleast most games coming out. I am used to playing 14-20FPS on my PS3 so anything above that i will be drooling :)

SO did i pick a good GPU?

THank God lol. I picked the MSI R9-280 because it is sooo cheap at only $220 and it is better than the 760 in price and almost every performance aspect. My GF wanted to get the Radeon R9 295x2 but i was like, Damn girl i want some money to be able to buy food to, lmao.

Really? My Friend has an R9-280 but the only game he plays, and i mean the "ONLY" game he plays is BF4 on it and he plays it on ultra well above 60FPS. You should get an RMA on it and get a new one sent to you because a PS4 $60 GPU can run BF4 great. I think it may have something wrong with it man.
