I wish to know a few tings about overclocking amd CPU's. In the near future i wish making an amd build and overclocking it as well. I wish to use a Fm2 or a Am3+ socket processor. But i had herd that not every motherboard could let me overclock them... So how do i know that the motherboard i choose could let me do so. And can someone could explain it in a great detail. Thanks

First, what is your budget for a build and where do you live? If your budget is anything over $600 then likely you don't want to buy AMD CPUs, you want to buy Intel.

Second, as far as I am aware all of the AMD chipsets will let you overclock, the bigger concern is the rest of the motherboard as the power system is a major factor when overclocking. Which completely depends on which socket you have. It also helps the ones with better chipsets are also built with better power design usually and are better at overclocking.

Im in the US and my budget is under $400 to $500 im planing using a amd athlon x4 760k or an amd fx 4300 and above.

Well if you are stuck down to $400, you are best go go with an AMD A10-6800k or similar, they have a few units almost the exact same with similar names but it makes little difference as long as the "k" is on the end. This is to save money cause you won't want to buy a GPU. After buying Windows, RAM, the CPU, storage, PSU, case, and a disk drive you won't really have enough money for a GPU so if you want to play games this is your only real option.

If you have $500, that changes things a bit where you could get an AMD FX 6300 and still have about $100 left for a decent low end GPU. Please note these estimates don't include keyboard, mouse, speakers, or display. If you need all that stuff then you are better to get a laptop cause your budget won't allow you to get everything and actually play games on low settings.

For overclocking we can discuss that more once you are more positive on your budget and you select which way you want to go.

This is everything i have a 500gb hdd the keyboard monitor and mouse and the os (ubuntu) i don't plan buying a dvd drive because i own a portable one in case i found it useful. i don't plan bulling a A# because is useless because i plan having a separate GPU

Well if you are using Ubuntu that helps a lot so you could realistically get the FX 6300 build without going up to $500 using the stuff you have on hand.

You are right that an APU isn't a good option if you will have a dedicated GPU, but for most people who don't have an HDD free on hand or an OS free on hand, the integrated graphics are the best option at that tight budget.

This is a good example build, take your pick of a case. This one should give quite a bit of performance over the CPUs you mentioned earlier. Then just toss whatever is left in a GPU.

There is this one, which is a bit cheaper and still should overclock about the same as the other one. It drops back on a few features but nothing major so it might be the better option for you.
