SSD and/or HDD?

I was thinking about getting an SSD to put my OS on and have it be a relatively small drive around 250 GB, or smaller, then have a 1 TB HDD for everything else. I thought about doing this so my computer would load up fast while still having an immense amount of storage, i don't want to get a 1 TB SSD because they are just crazy expensive in my opinion. I think this would give me the best of both worlds, but im still kind of edgy with it...

I have a 250gig SSD for my OS and 2 HDDs for storage. I have installed all my games on the SDD and I keep my music, videos, pictures, etc on the storage drives. It seems to be working well. I have had this setup for about 2 years and I like it a lot. Load times are nice and fast for the OS and games but I still get all the cheap storage for my bigger files, which don't really need the speed.

That is a very standard config.
I have a 128GB SSD for the C drive (OS and applications), and other HDD's for other stuff. Works very well.

Eventually SSDs will be more competitive with the HDD....but for now, the SSD is great for the OS and select programs, and using a HDD for your data and programs that don't benefit greatly from the SSD (i.e. programs that are rarely run). I have a 128GB SSD and have Windows 8.1, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visual Studio and Adobe Creative Suite 6 Master Collection (that is a 50GB install).
