Hi, I am very new to the IT world and working on a project for school. I have an issue where I am trying to implement a SAN for a company that has multiple locations with the main file server at the headquaters location. WHat is tripping me up in my research of SANs is how do they connect to the companies already existing LAN or WAN, so that I can get all the office locations around the world to have access to the SAN? And would I use Application servers for each company location to connect to the SAN and would those be located at the SAN location or at each office location? Again very new to this and it is a little over my head trying to put it all together.

Thanks, Ryan L.

If you actually have a corporate network built it will just work. You will have actual routers in a network like this not the silly devices they call routers in walmart and bestbuy. Especially for a international network when you don't know what you are doing you call up large network provider and have them install a private network for you with bandwidth and latency guarantees. Generally they provide all the equipment and operate it for you if you outsource it to them.
