Hi all, I have been searching for a laptop but I am unable to select one. I am getting mixed reviews on Apple Macs, but to be honest, I cannot afford one of them.
I was told that I would need 8GB i7 and 1TB but I dont/wont be doing gaming etc. I am not sure on what brands are good but I would really really appreciate any suggestions as the laptop I have at the minute is basically on life support with a charger.

I will be using it for music, movie, uploading photos, editing photos and social networking. I would like it to be an investment but im confused on i5 or i7? Are there high end i5 and low end i7? Please suggest a laptop that I could buy here in the UK???

Get the i5 you dont need an i7 for the the work you have mentioned you will not notice any performance difference and an i5 can be stronger than the i7 for example the 4th generation i5 4690 is much better than the first generation i7 950.

If your a casual gamer and enjoy nice graphics and a good overall responsive PC then i would say i5. The Haswell refresh SKUs offer a bit more thermal improvement, According to Intel. Even an i3 in some cases may be just as well. Is it only a laptop or a PC and laptop? I cannot really recommend a higher end Laptop as I don't use one. Though I can say That the newer Levono Models offer a good value on Both Intel and AMD. For me if I had $1500 to drop on a Laptop then I would go for either the Lenovo Y50 or Lenovo Y50 4K or one of MSI GE series. There is usually options to cherry pick certain things like mSATA or more Memory.
