I have a OCZ Fatal1ty 550 W PSU
I am currently running a ASUS GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1Gb
On the Asus website it says that "up to 225W2 additional 6 pin PCIe power required" for my 560 ti.
And on the Asus GTX 970 webpage it says "up to 225W1 additional 8 pin PCIe power required"
I know that i have a 6+2 pin connector but is it really enough power?
Also does the ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 970 have a DisplayPort 1.2 connector? on the website it just says "Display Port : Yes x 1 (Regular DP)"

Solution
short and simply, yes. That GPU draws little power and a 550W PSU can suffice of that nature.

yes the 6+2 pin power connector is enough, see the image below. (Only an option for either 8 pin or 6+2 Pin)

The Strix has 1 x DP 1.2 on it.

Short and sweet, the answer is yes. Depending on how much power the rest of your system is pulling, you might even be able to run two (2) of them. I only say that because I was reading some reviews last night where some 970's were running in sli on Seasonic X-560s

The reason I asked about the DisplayPort was because im looking into getting the Samsung U28D590D 28 inch Ultra HD Monitor
"Display Port 1.2 (3840x2160, 60Hz)"
My next question would be is the 970 enough power to run this monitor at 4k for fairly light gaming, possibly when GTA V on pc comes out, at around 40 fps?
