On my PC i plan to get an AMD 8350, is overclocking beneficial if i only game?
I have an ASUS m5a97 r2.0 LE and i don't want it to get too hot, if i don't overclock will it be OK? i plan on having 3 case fans also+

Solution
While gaming you can overclock it for a increase in performance
fx processors are meant to overclock
while overclocking your cpu temps will rise
which GPU do you have

yep then you wouldn't face any problems
and no overclocking will be needed on current games

Thats what i was thinking! Make a game only playable for overclocked PC's?

lol from personal experience, swotor, warthunder, world of planes, are not playable when there are a lot of things going on, swtor pvp isn't playable at all it cant even get over 25fps when the cpu was @5,2ghz need more proof just go check out forums of mmo's and you will se its littered with posts about terrible performance on fx parts, the simple fact is that the single thread performance on fx's is worse that it was on old thubans, and as far as multiplayer games are concerned it the only thing that matters to them, those games run on mostly 1 thread , i personally switched to intel because of that, i can finaly play pvp in swtor and get over 30fps at all times, not around 15 like with my fx, 16man ops where unplayable aswell, when you come to think of it even eso ran like shit wouldn't get past 40fps
