I plan on getting a gigabyte gtx 970 near the holidays, but can't decide if I should go amd or Intel. I am look for mobo and processor combos, thanks for any help.
Also, I'm worried about bottle necking, I don't want to spend 360 dollars and get 200 worth of performance.

More about : cpu mobo gtx 970

Completely and utterly false.

That said, which way you go is going to depend on your budget and intended usage (I assume gaming). If budget allows, go Intel. If not, AMD may be the way to go. Ask again when you're closer to purchasing.

Where is it written that it's not good?

@Hayden - What is your budget? We can go from there.

He's saying he doesn't want to purchase a $360 graphics card and only get $200 of performance. He doesn't say what the complete system budget is.

My budget is 450, and the only problem I have with Intel is one, no experience, two, all the horror stories about the mobos failing being DOA or some other problem. I plan on purchasing next week. Also I will have to over clock my mother board to accept my ram. Is that easy?

Also don't account the graphics card into that. I'll get the card later when its for sure going to be in stock.

For $450, below should be your best option:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($338.95 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($112.99 @ Mwave)
Total: $451.94

@ Hayden Hutsell - If you have $450 budgeted for just the CPU/Motherboard combo, the the Intel Combo DubbleClick links would be the best, despite "all the horror stories" you've heard. While there are some instances where motherboard have failed, it is just as common for an AMD motherboard to fail as it is an Intel motherboard.

Yes. That power supply is more than sufficient for your system build.

This.

However, as for the motherboard, you may want to update your bios if you plan on using auto voltage settings. Most boards should already be updated to F3+, but I'm sure there are still some F1 version boards out. As they released before the DC cpu's, the voltage control for those is not as good as the one of later Bios versions.
