Hey guys the gtx 970 came out and I'm already thinking of getting it. But I'm not too sure which one to choose. I am big on noise and I like quiet graphics cards. So should I get the Asus strix one or the evga acx 2.0 or the gigabyte windforce I might also do some overclocking but mainly keeping it at stock settings. Any answer is appreciated!

Gigabyte windforce.

Asus is not as quiet as many think -

Thank JackNaylorPE for this info;

With MSI at 1325 clock, it hits a GPU temp of 68 C with PCB measurement points from 62C to 82C and a dbA of 39
With Giga at 1178 clock, it hits a GPU temp of 60 C with PCB measurement points from 57C to 61C and a dbA of 39
With Asus at 1114 clock, it hits a GPU temp of 69 C with PCB measurement points from 62C to 82C and a dbA of 39

Evga has huge issues - (1/3 of GPU not covered by heatpipes) I do not recommend this card at all.

Short and simply, get the Gigabyte. There is no doubt about the obvious better.

thanks for the response but I heard gigabyte is prone to get noisy while gaming. I dont mind if I hear a slight whir but I like it quiet. I play BF4 and I want to be pretty quiet and cool.

according to the review, it cools better at the same temp compared to the Asus and MSI, though take into account the MSI has the highest out of the box OC.

What exactly in those reviews shows the Asus isn't "as quiet as you think"?

Good spotting, just realised forgot to put that one in. JackNaylorPE got that info from a review in which I can no longer find.

I purchased the strix, the fact that it is designed to be silent, also entails the ability to overclock and sound normal, the gigabyte card is okay, I've had a few windforces, they turn into jet engines after a while though.

Strix for life!

there have been a few strip downs of the 970 strix and it's a very sleek and well put together card. Plus the heatsink is overkill, which is always nice :)

"I've had a few windforces, they turn into jet engines after a while though." <- Your referring to the prior models, which do.
