Hello, I am working on a site on it is to the point to where I want to make it an actual website but I do not know if I am permitted to by Comcast. Am I able to host one on Comcast?

Solution
Your website will need a fixed IP and DNS entries for the website - which is available from Comcast for an additional fee. Usually it is cheaper to have a hosting company host the website - usually less than $10 per month (often less expensive than a fixed IP).

I don't think so, based on this post, but you should just call them to find out for sure.

I wish to self-host a website for my gaming server. I do not wish to use a hosting service. I talked to several different help areas and they all redirected me to one another. So I'll explain my case here. I checked the Terms of Use (Acceptable Use... Whatever) and it said:

use or run DEDICATED, STAND-ALONE EQUIPMENT OR SERVERS from the Premises that provide network
content or any other services to anyone outside of your Premises local area network (“Premises
LAN”), also commonly referred to as PUBLIC SERVICES OR SERVERS. Examples of prohibited
equipment and servers include, but are not limited to, email, Web hosting, file sharing, and proxy
services and servers;

I use a company called "Dreamhost" - http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting/

I pay $8.95 per month for 3 websites - they pay for the first domain (about $20 per year for registration), and the other two I have to pay for. A good hosting company will charge you $5 to $10 for basic hosting services on a shared server.
