In normal circumstances I would pick a single gtx 980 so I can sli it later but I just made a new build and I have three Asus mx239h monitors that I would like to game with in 5760x1080. If a single gtx 980 can handle it well, ill go with that. I pretty much want a smooth gaming experience on three screens.

More about : dual gtx 970 single gtx 980

gtx 970 sli will give you better performance no contest but i will wait a bit longer for gtx 980 ti because it will have better perf and will have more Vram.

a 980 will be able to handle most games at 5760 x 1080, (that's the setup I am currently using.)
Some games may require you to lower settings a little to medium or high.

I'd go for SLI 970, near double the performance of a single 970 and not much more expensive than a 980.

Do you know around when it'll be released?

Also you play on pretty high resolution and 256bit bus might be a problem in some future titles that also require more vram like Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor so its better to wait. You dont buy these GPUs every day.

If you are not on hurry better wait a little bit for GM200. GTX 980ti will be a full unlocked maxwel card.

I mean I'm fine with waiting. Like maybe 1.5 months at the most. Is there any speculation on the release?

And how much is it going to cost because If it costs as much as the titan or even more than $700 idk if I'll be able to afford it

If we estimate GTX 970 and GTX 980 price the GTX 980 ti will be around 600-700$ not near TITAN price.
