So I have this single ram stick: Silicon Power DDR3 PC12000 1600MHz 8GB on an ASUS m5a97 r2.0 MOBO with FX8320 CPU. I think it should have 12000 MB/S but novabench indicates its only 5000 MB/s. is it wrong with my configuration? is it wrong DIMM slot?

Couple of things, first the rated MB/s or MT/s is only a theoretical, highest possibility, that would entail all DRAM operating with a full load - which just doesn't happen....second at any given time the amount will vary - third the amount is dependent on the load and the overall system capabilities and lastly if comparing to other rigs, have to take into consideration the rig itself, and even the higher end AMD CPUs won't carry near what semi-comparable Intel rigs will carry as the MC (memory controller)s of AMD CPUs are relatively weak to begin with. While they 'show' say the 8320 of being capable of running 2 sticks at 1866 (and they don't mention that testing was done with 4 GB sticks at JEDEC), the MC itself (according to AMDs...
