Hey,

so i finished building my computer and am wondering how to increase it as my ram can go up to 2400 but i want to go to about 1800 or 1600? what do you recommend also,

thanks.

Solution
The RAM is DDR = DOUBLE data rate
You are actually at 1333 Mhz

In your BIOS will be an option to set the RAM to a faster speed . Most BIOSes that is .
You can do that manually , or you can apply an XMP profile .
The second option is far far easier

Incorrect .
AMD BIOSes have been fully supporting XMP profiles for about a decade now

The profiles are embedded in a ROM on the RAM stick , the BIOS only has to recognize them . I imagine its the memory manufacturers who pay intel royalties . All a board manufacturer has to do is write a BIOS that enables the XMP's and you have universal support .

Intel invented it , definitely

But there are many cross licensing agreements . Intel pay a royalty on each processor they make to AMD for technologies thay have adopted .
And vice versa too .

Anyway the OP can just head to BIOS , after reading the manual , and apply an XMP profile which will automatically apply the selected frequency, timings and latencies .
1600 MHz here we come
