To be completely honest, 280mm is not a very common size for fans. At 240mm, it offers a good combination of pressure and noise level. Going higher you loose air pressure which is vital to the function of heatsinks ie more pressure, more contact, more heat transfer. I know I have grown attached to many of my old parts and mods but compatibility is not necessarily a good trade off for efficiency.
In many situations the look of your case as with all cosmetics should be the last consideration of your build. You should always prioritize efficiency, stability, and durability above all else. Will it work, will it do so without additional issues, and how long will it last. Once you find one that meets these needs, then pick the ones from that based on preference and appearance. Besides, generally your looking at your monitor not your case.
I have the Corsair Air 540, it looks like an air conditioner but works very well and has plenty of airflow at low volume. Don't like the look, but I really don't look at it.
