CyberPower showed a preview of a Steam Machine box with FX 6300 and R9 270X for $500, so you could build something like that, but the difference would be having to buy Windows vs Steam OS being free.

Latter model OEM Windows OSes can be had as low as $65 if you're a student. If not, more like $80.
