Look up your laptop model and see what CPU options it came with. You should be safe upgrading it to whatever it has as an option. Anyhing past that you need to check the CPU model and make sure it's the same socket and wattage as the current CPU. You may also run into issues with stability as the laptop would be designed with certain cooling for a CPU, if you upgrade to a CPU that runs hotter you may have crashes and can kill the CPU if it overheats.

this is the best processor, as the only other option was an a4 3300m. was kinda asking to see if anyone had done it and to see if it still worked. i blieve that the processor is socket fs1, 35watt tdp. thats all i know at present. didnt have time to look at anything else. will do more research later today. thanks for the reply hang-the-9

You can't use any fs1r2 CPUs in the system, the best 35W CPU for fs1 is A8-3520M

Can't say if it will work in the laptop though even if the socket and wattage match.

Alright I will look into that cpu, and see what the heating looks like. As far as I can tell, heat would be the only problem, except maybe a bios error?

The A8 I listed should fit, but can't say anthing about it being able to work in the system or not. You may also end up damaging something in he system swapping it out so you better be sure the upgrade is worth the risk of making the laptop un-usable.

I might just leave the A6 in for now then. Maybe I'll just try to change it when the laptop becomes overly out dated then. Thanks for the help hang-the-9
