Spent hours searching for a new wireless adapter for my pc. I finally bought Belkin ac dual band F9L1106v1, suppose to be the dogs!! Well signal is crap and cant even connect to network, where as my TP link wn723n which is the size of a thumbnail blows the Belkin out the water in comparison. I paid 40 pound for a adapter that does nothing where as my old one cost far less ......just totally confused

Solution
Very likely the db range of that Belkin is lower than the TP Link has, when looking for best signal range you need to check the adapter's db gainance.

Also bear in mind that the 802.11ac specification has a more limited range of coverage, going beyond that range will cause it to switch to 802.11b/g regardless of the db gainance your adapter/wireless router have.

I'm clarifying that just in case you were expecting 802.11ac speeds while being at long distance from your router.

I'm pretty sure he's found a solution of some type by now. The original post is 7 months old.
