Fallout New Vegas 100% CPU usage

Fallout New Vegas is the only game on steam that gives me a warning that my CPU is at 100% usage. Is there a setting I have to tweak to avoid this from happening?? I need a fix because I want to keep playing.

My specs are well above the recommended considering fallout is pretty outdated by now. I have a fx8350 processor with a Radeon r9 280. Dark souls 2 runs flawless along with skyrim on high setting. I don't understand how fallout new Vegas is using 100%

I thought it may be that because my motherboard has faulty sensors for my fans and north bridge readings. I was seeing on forums that it was a common issue with the fallout games and want to figure this out. I'm afraid to play it and fuck up my processor if it's a correct reading
