I'm no expert, but you may be better going for the new GTX 970 over the GTX 780. I'm building a very similar rig and decided to go for the 970 after seeing the reviews.

I tried to do it, but it didnt fit in his budget unless you take out the ssd. but nonetheless he will get over 70+FPS in 1080P with GTX 780.

Makes sense - I'm looking at UK prices and they are practically the same so your numbers must be different.

If you want build advice make a new thread, but he could have went with a locked i5 and H97 motherboard to fit in the 970.

Ok, fair enough.

None, with the AMD one you paired a shitty CPU with a godd GPU, and in the intel you paired a Good CPU with a shitty GPU.

Just curious, but which CAD programs do you use?

this is a great build for your needs:

the xeon cpu is essentially an i7 4770 with a small mhz drop and no igpu, neither of which will hurt performance. it provides i7 power for near i5 price
h97 mobo (atx sized) since the xeon cant overclock
really fast ram for cheap, itts a steal for that speed. also, 16gbs will help with big projects in photoshop, etc, and fits in the budget (im guessing around $1100?)
less expensive ssd, but still great performance. you wont feel the difference in real world applications, only benchmarks
same 1tb hdd
msi 970, performs at the 780 level and higher, great gpu, low power consumption, etc. etc. all around great gpu
same case
rosewill hive 650w psu, is tier 2, reliable, semi modular, bronze rated, not as expensive, etc. you wont need much wattage anyway
same dvd drive
same os

overall, for about the same price youll get alot better performance

EDIT: M0j0jojo's ideacould be great since its zero gaming. if possible, try to get a quadro card as they are great for professional programs. this is a little more than the 970, would put my build to $1200.

i havent seen benchmarks for 970s in professional uses, but if its better than the k2000 stick with the 970, but i see the k2000 doing better by a margin
