So its been a long time since I made my PC, im currently using a AMD 4000+ single core processor with a 7800GTX Geforce graphics card, and well it doesnt cut it anymore, it wont play the latest games.
I want to buy a new PC from parts and build it myself which I can do, but I dont want to have to learn all the goddamn names they use for graphics cards and processors, for someone thats been out of the loop its really annoying all the non logical names they give their products. Why cant they just call them card 1 card 2 card 69 and so forth, no instead they call the latest card card 1 clutch control and the old cards are called card 6000 ultra redshift, its so freaking annoying! Its like wtf are all these cards and why do I have to memorize 30 of each just to know what the hell to buy.
Anyway I want a PC that will play all the next generation of games and I want it to last as long as the consoles at least. I want it to play games better than the consoles since developers will be pushing the consoles to the edge I want that bit of comfort space. Also I know consoles can play games better despite having lower processing power etc because thats all they do ie all they do is play games.
So what processors do I buy?
What grpahics card do I buy?
I want to be able to play Supreme commander on high settings with lots of units and ai players.
I want to be able to play Total Anihilation 2 which isnt out yet, but these 2 games are famous for running slow and taking uber machines to run them
I also wanna play far cry 3 and 4 maxed out
I also wanna play doom 4 which isnt out yet but will probably be out on consoles and PC next year, I want to play that well. Doesnt have to max out but would b e nice if it could.
Im not sure whether to buy one ultra cheap PC now and another unltra cheap one in a few years time or buy one now pay a bit more and try to make it last.
Im not against 2nd hand stuff.
I can build it although if it doesnt make much difference price wise id rather have it pre built.
I was thinking if I wanted the PC to last its best to get a good processor, and an average graphics card because in my experience graphics cards die really really quickly like every 3 years. But processors go on forever as does everthing else except hard drives for me.
I already have a monitor.
Just want to know which processor, which graphics card, you reccomend.
and what the latest and best graphics cards are from AMD, Pentium, Geforce and ATI ie what are the current mid level cards and processors that compare with the latest gen consoles and what are the current flag ship models and everything inbetween. Last time I checked x2 core processors were new and all the rage, and the Geforce 7800GTX was the flagship card. .

How much do you want to spend?
How much better than a console do you want?
From what I have seen, you only need a $700 PC to start to do better than either consoles.
As well as you can upgrade a PC in the future, and you can't upgrade a console.
I've said $700 here before, and others disagree. they say you can equal a console for $500.

Thanks for the reply friend!
1000 pounds max which is 1600 dollars. Thats my cut off point but id much rather spend as little as possible, if I could do it for 300 pounds (500 dollars I would) or even less. But Id expect it would HAVE to be at least about 500 dollars/300 pounds like you said.
I dont need an OS, keyboard, mouse, sound card, speakers, monitor,
just the processor, graphics card, motherboard, case, power supply and ram.
Id like to spend mor eon the processor and less on the graphics card since the graphics cards in my experience die real fast. (even tho people say get the best graphics card I disagree)

I'd go withe the new power sipping GTX980, and an i5, if you want to save. GTX 980 is supposedly the best single GPU.
i7 only adds hyper threading, and a larger L3, not game changers.
If you don't overclock, you can save on the motherboard.
Overclocking is one of the strength of a PC over a Console.

Thanks for your help friend, I will look out for them how many cores does the i5 or i7 have? Doesnt the ps4 have like 9 cores or something?
Also is that graphics card like a currently mid range graphics card?

You gave no budget

Your CPU and the Video card are what counts for performance, everything else just supports that.
The first thing I decide on when building a computer, is the CPU, and then the Video card.
There are plenty of posters that will post the rest.

How Long u want your pc to max out games?What resolution?1080p?
Do u know about fps(frame per second)?
Thanks for your help friend, getting confused between people.
I want to use a resolution of 2048 x 1536 all the time for all my games. I always have done that and it never slowed anything. But I can go down to 1600 x 1200 resolution wise np.
I dont need to max out all the games but it would be good to get close to max out for the next generation of games that will be on the ps4 and xbox1 I mean they will be making games for those console specs for a long time which will bottle neck PC gaming so I should be able to play games near to max out till the next consoles come along the ps5 and the xbox 0

If overclocking is done right, it won't hurt the CPU.I had an AMD Barton with a 20% overclock, that ran for 11 years, and retired, still working.
Desktop i5 have 4 cores
Desktop i7 have 4 to 8 cores,
They don't compare to console possessors, they aren't even close.
awesome thanks friend!!

In order to play Latest Games Maxed out,You need a powerfull Pc.
Monitor=If u want to enjoy Games,u need a good monitor.A monitor has a resolution and a refresh rate and response time.
Higher resolution needs more powerfull hardware but will result in much better Graphics
higher refresh rate will result in higher fps and response time is a plus in games like Call Of Duty.
a 1080p monitor with 100 Hertz Refresh rate is ideal and this monitors with high refresh rate are TN(panel)
IPS is another kind of Panel for monitors or tv with lower refresh rate and response time but Much more accurate colors.
Thats for Monitors.First Tell me your decision about it?

I already have a good monitor its an old CRT monitor but flat screens still havnt surpassed them in resolution/ dot pitch etc and if they have you will have to pay loads for them.
My monitor is a Sony GDM-F520
https://docs.sony.com/release/specs/GDMF520_sp.pdf
What is 1080 p?
I dont need to run it at super high resolutions, the CRT monitor can scale the resolution down as needs be its not like a flat screen monitor where you have only 1 fixed resolution!?
Surely the consoles are maxing out their games I just want it to max them out or more so than with the consoles. I dont ever want to have to put a game on low graphical settings in the next 2 years.
So I want to play doom 5 and total anihilation 2 both games that arnt out yet , will be out in a year, l want to be able to play them at at least medium settings and smoothly.
I want to play far cry 3 at max settings maxed out, this game is already out and was on the ps3 and xbox 360

monitor= Your choice but i recommend 1080p
Ram=Future games need 8gb for ultra,so a 2 x 4 Corsair or G Skill will do the trick and ofc they have different speed and voltage and Latency
a 2400MHz and 1600MHz are not much different.higher ram speed needs better motherboard.
i would suggest a 2 x 4 GB cosair or G skill ram with 1600 speed, latency 9 and 1.5v
like

Cpu= Intel or Amd?i dont know much about amd cpu.
Intel Cpu be sure to choose new ones i mean Intel haswell Cpu.LGA 1150 socket.u can buy Haswell-E too but they are much more expensive.
intel Haswell LGA 1150 socket Cpu=
i3= Dual core with 4 threads
i5= Quad core with 4 threads
i7= Quad core with 8 threads

This will max out games for a few years, and is quite power efficient. I suggest that you overclock the cpu and gpu, and if you do not know how to overclock, I suggest looking up a guide, as this build will last you EVEN longer if you overclock. I chose the MSI gtx 970 because of the twin FrozR fan, which I have had nothing but cool temperatures with, and because MSI gpus are the best to overclock with. Once again, just search up a guide if you do not know how to overclock, and I think that the gtx 970 comes with a control panel to easily overclock and tweak the gpu.

Once again, just search up a guide if you do not know how to overclock, and I think that the gtx 970 comes with a control panel to easily overclock and tweak the gpu.

Motherboard = GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H LGA 1150 ATX Intel Motherboard ($189.99 )
CPU = Intel Core i7-4790 Haswell Quad-Core 3.6GHz LGA 1150 ($309.99)
Ram = CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 ($86.99) or G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)DDR3 1600 ($79.99)
Power Supply = Corsair or SeaSonic (80 PLUS GOLD Certified and CPU Certified Haswell Ready)($120.99 to $150.99 )
Graphic Card = GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0( $349.99)
Storage = Western Digital WD Blue 1TB 7200 RPM 3.5" Internal Hard Drive ($69.99 )
CPU Cooler = Cooler Master ( 25.99)
Optical Drive = ASUS 24X DVD Burner (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...) ($19.99)
Case = Atx Mid Tower(Your Choice)
Total = $ 1170
Prices includes shipping, taxes,but Doesnt include discounts (there is going to be lower prices)and maybe it even raches 1000 or 950 with good discounts
With this PC you can almost max out anything right now in 1080p Resolution with 60FPS And Future games(Max 2 or 3 years)
But if u want a PC that will cost u around 800 dollars or Lower then U wont be able to max out Future games
If u want my idea its not much important to max out games.A combination Medium to High or High to Ultra games settings will do the trick and will cost much lower than 1200 dollars,it will be around 800 dollars and with good dicounts maybe lower.
If u wanted help again,just ask.
Good Luck

Why?Well because ive never been helped so much on a forum before and im grateful, I was just wondering if you have some kind of sales role within the forum to drum up business for various websites selling computers?
Its a good idea and im open to doing business, so long as it does nott cost a load to get my stuff delivered in the UK
