Hi all,

Got a new case, so I was moving my fully working system from the old case into the new one. The system wouldn't post in the new case.

So clearly I've fried something in the changeover process, but I don't know if it's the RAM or the mobo.

I followed the "No Post" guide (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1893016/post-syste...).

I breadboarded it, and have the following symptoms:

1) No RAM installed: Fans on, LEDs on, get memory error beeps.
2) Single stick RAM (tried both) installed: Fans on, LEDs on, no beep, no post, no display

The guide seems to suggest this is a memory issue "Silence indicates that the RAM is shorting out the PSU (very rare)", rather than a motherboard issue.

But given that it happens with either stick of RAM, and it's a "very rare" issue, I'm asking for a second opinion before buying new components: Is this likely to be a memory issue or a motherboard issue?

Thanks,

have you tried reseating the GPU or the memory? most of the times it's those two.

Just using integrated graphics to diagnose, so no GPU. I've reseated the memory multiple times.

It could also be your CPU, try your ram on a different board

Memory confirmed fine in another machine. Mobo/CPU is the issue. Going to replace the pair of them. Thanks for the help.
